London, ENGLAND: Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford each scored as Manchester United beat rivals Manchester City 2-0 in a preseason encounter staged in Houston, Texas Friday morning.

The former Everton man who crossed over to United in a 75 million pound summer signing opened the scoring in the 37th minute with Rashford doubling the lead minutes later.

City came close to finding the back of the net but their efforts were thwarted by United’s keeper David DeGea who made several saves including a fingertip save of Raheem Sterling’s long-range shot.

Being a test match, both teams lined up their new acquisitions with goalkeeper Ederson and defender Kyle Walker both making their debut in the City shirt while Victor Lindelof started for Manchester United.

This was the first time in history that the two teams both from the City of Manchester, England faced off outside UK in the clash famously known as the Manchester derby.
