SGR increases number of daily trips

More Kenyans can now travel in the standard gauge railway following the  addition of two more daily trips starting July 1st 2017.

A communiqué from Kenya Railways shows that the Inter County train will start daily trips to Mombasa and Nairobi.

Inter county trains will simultaneously leave Mombasa and Nairobi at 8am.

They will make stop overs at Mariakani, Miasenyi, Voi, Mtito Andei, Makindu, Emali and Athi River.

The trip is scheduled to take 5hrs 30Mins.

The Madaraka Express will leave Mombasa and Nairobi, nonstop to the other opposite terminus.

Kenya Railway also added a third express trip scheduled for 3pm daily.

“The last train from either Mombasa or Nairobi, MADARAKA Express, will depart Msa and Nrb”, reads the statement.

The SGR coaches have a capacity of 1,200 passengers per trip.
