Ramisi and Kaya Tiwi uphold expectations to book School Games semi’s

Mombasa. KENYA: Coast region boys’ soccer champions Ramisi Secondary beat defending champions St. Anthony from Kitale 2-1 to qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing Copa Coca Cola National Secondary School Term Two A Games in Mombasa on Thursday.

Ahead of the clash, the Kwale county champions, new only victory could have granted them a last four slot having had lost 2-0 to Kakamega High on Tuesday in their second group match, spoiling the 1-0 victory they registered against Garissa High in the opening match.

Joining Ramisi in the semis are Nyandarua County champions Passenga who thrashed Upper Hill from Nairobi 4-1 on Thursday and Kakamega High who wrapped up their group match with a 2-0 thumping of Garissa High.

In girls football Coast region’s Kwale Girls failed to make it to semis after going down 2-1 at the hands of Olympic of Nairobi, their second defeat in three matches.

Things got even worse to the hosts when Coast champions Kwale Girls stumbled 4-1 to Chebukaki from Western who had already qualified for semis with two win from the previous matches.

In netball girls that enter semis on Friday, the reigning champions Kaya Tiwi have been paired with Mukuyu from Central region while Nyanza’s Obambo will square it with Cheptil from Rift Valley.

Kaya Tiwi maintained the status quo by trouncing St. Dorcas 60-21, Mukuyu were 38-31 winners over Cheptil while Obambo walloped Mandera Secondary 107-1 in the last group matches played on Thursday at Shanzu Teacher’s Training College.

Elsewhere, Menengai from Nairobi became the firs team to qualify for the semifinals of the rugby sevens discipline with wins of 24-5 against Kagumo and 26-0 over Nairobi School.

Other results saw hosts Shimo la Tewa lose 17-0 to Kangaru before going down 15-0 to Nairobi School as Kaya Tiwi edge Simotwa 17-11 in the other counter.

In handball semis slated for Friday Central region representatives Mukumu will take on Kanyawanga of Nyanza region in the first boys’ semis before Barani Secondary of Coast play Dr. Ribiero.

Girls’ semis will see Sega from Nyanza tackle St. Francis while Kamusinga from Western will come up against New Jogoo of Nairobi.
