Nairobi, KENYA: Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Peter Kenneth has picked the former Football Kenyan Federation FKF Nairobi Branch Chairman Dr. Dan Shikanda as his running mate.

Kenneth who seeks election as an independent candidate made the announcement on Wednesday joining Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko in the race to unseat the incumbent Evans Kidero.

The appointment sees Shikanda return to the political scene for the second time after having unsuccessfully contested for the Makadara Constituency seat in the 2007 polls.

In his footballing career Shikanda turned up for Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards and lately he has been working with South African pay TV channel Super Sports as a pundit.

Meanwhile, Kenneth who lost to Mike Sonko during the Jubilee party primaries faces an uphill task to clinch the City’s top job with opinion polls ranking him third favorites among the contestants.
