Kenyan international Victor Wanyama has expressed gratitude after being accorded the Best of Africa role model award for giving back to the society.
In an event dubbed Best of Africa (BoA), the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder received Philanthropic Endeavor: Youth Engagement Award during a gala in London on Tuesday night.
Wanyama then wrote on Twitter “Honored to win an award for my work helping disadvantaged children in Kenya. It is important to help those less fortunate than ourselves.”
BoA was founded to support and celebrate African-owned philanthropic endeavors by African players in the English Premier League, the Best of Africa Awards honors and celebrates people and platforms supporting ethical socioeconomic development causes in and for Africa.
Previous winners include Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba both from Ivory Coast, Nigerian Odion Ighalo and former Arsenal fielder Alex Song of Cameroon.
