Mombasa, KENYA: Mombasa senator Hassan Omar who is also eyeing the Mombasa gubernatorial seat has launched initiation process for the Citizen Manifesto Initiative.

Speaking during the launch in his office on Wednesday, Omar said the programme aims to capture priorities and meet expectations of Mombasa residents.

“Inspiration is completely lost in our to-be leaders. They completely forget the fundamentals of leadership that one can assume that they know all that ails their people. The mere thought is akin to imposing one’s ideas to the public. This explains why most elected official have failed to deliver on their initial promises,” he said.

Omar said that he intends to reach every ward in Mombasa county to get the ideas for the Citizen Manifesto and to allow collective governance of the county on issues that affect Mombasa residents.

He further explained that his manifesto will consider integrity, good governance and accountability and reduce taxes on Kenyans who earn less.

“My main investment will be health and water, we will minimize on entertainment and we will reduce taxes on everything that will affect food prices,” he added.
