Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Kisauni Mombasa have launched a manhunt for three armed robbers who escaped with unknown amount of money, Wednesday night.

The suspects who were riding in a motorcycle,  are said to have attacked one of the shops in Shanzu at around 9 pm as the owner was almost closing business for the day.

Police have identified the owner of the shop as Geoffrey Mutua and he owns a shop at bush area in Shanzu.

One of the suspect who acted as a customer, is said to have fired two times in the air using a pistol. He then reportedly went into the shop and left with unknown amount of money from the cash box, police said.

Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich told Baraka FM on Thursday that the owner has so far recorded the statement with the police and they were following crucial leads, adding that no one was injured.

“It is unfortunate that the motorcycle had no registration number, the owner of the shop told us he only saw three men riding in a motorcycle but one of them alighted, this one was armed and he fired two times in the air before gaining access to the shop,” said police boss.
