Nairobi, KENYA: Harambee Stars will play against Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday and Sunday respectively in an international friendly match with coach Stanley Okumbi keen to build a strong team for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in June.
Having won in eight matches consecutively, including a high profile 1-0 win over the DR Congo in Kinshasa on October 4 last year, Okumbi is expected to go down in the back-to-back fixtures in Machakos sure of winning the matches.
Kenya begin’s their 2019 AFCON qualifying campaign away in Sierra Leone on June 13 in Group F that also includes Ghana and Ethiopia.
New players have flocked into the club including Samuel Onyango (Ulinzi Stars), Whyvonne Isuza (AFC Leopards), Sammy Meja (Thika United), Simon Mbugua (Posta Rangers) .
Other new players are 2016 KPL MVP Kenneth Muguna (Gor Mahia), Jeremiah Wanjala (Kakamega Homeboyz) and Joseph Kuria (Posta Rangers).
