Mombasa,KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday told off governor Ali Hassan Joho for taking credit on several national government projects in Mombasa.
Speaking in a political rally at Tononoka Mombasa, Kenyatta said Joho never misses an opportunity to follow him when launching project in Mombasa so as to position himself for photo opportunities in order to lie to his followers that he is a performer.
“Huyu gavana ananifuata kila mahali ili kupigwa picha na mimi nikizundua miradi alafu anasema eti ni miradi yake ( This governor follows me everywhere in Mombasa when i launch project then he takes photos with me to show that it his him who initiated the project),” he said.
He said Joho rushed to launch the Kongowea market stalls yet it was a project funded by the national government.
Kenyatta who was accompanied by deputy president William Ruto also defended the jubilee government saying it has fulfilled most of its pledges to Kenyans.
“‘The loans that we take are meant for developments. There can be no development without investment and that is what we are doing,” he added.
He also received several coast politicians who defected to the jubilee party during the rally attended by a mammoth crowd.
Key among them is Tana River Governor Hussein Dado, Taita Taveta senator Dan Mwazo and Women representative Joyce Lay.
