AP officer stabs his boss leaving him seriously injured


Mombasa, KENYA: An Administration Police officer on Sunday morning allegedly stabbed and seriously injured his boss in Timbwani camp in Likoni sub-county.

The suspect identified as constable Moses Kibet  is accused of stabbing sergeant Godona Bakari on his left hand at around 3 am; leaving him with deep cuts,an officer who sought anonymity for fear of victimization at the camp told Baraka FM.

Earlier, the suspect had tried to shoot him but was overpowered and subdued by other officers who were on night duty, who managed to take away his G3 loaded gun.

The officer is then  said to have gone for a machete and stabbed the sergeant before he was rescued.

The motive of the attack is yet to be established but officers at the camp said the accused was drunk when he was arrested.

The officers at the camp further said the junior officer has not been happy with his senior for along time.

The suspect was later arrested at Shelly beach after he escaped.He is being detained at Likoni police station as investigations commenced.

The injured officer has been taken to a private hospital in Mombasa Island for treatment.

When Baraka FM contacted Likoni deputy police boss Anthony shimoli for a comment, he said he was yet to release a formal report concerning the incident.
