Mombasa,KENYA:Amani Yusuf, 28 and a father of one, was buried at around 8pm in makaburini centi kumi in likoni subcounty in presence of family members and kdf soldiers.
There was no gun salute as is the norm with kdf during burials of soldiers.
Baraka fm visited the family in Mrima area Monday morning,a somber mood engulfed the village as family and friends gathered at the homestead of the deceased.
His sister Aisha Mwinga, described the deceased as a dedicated brother and a loving Father.
His body was airlifted from Nairobi to Moi International Airport Mombasa.
Aisha said she last communicated with her brother on Thursday concerning family issues but she didn’t know it was going to be the last time.
“I remember very well chatting with our last born.He was well and jovial little did I know this also ws his last time”,said a tearful Miss Aisha.
She added that the family received the sad news on Saturday and that is when they communicated with their relatives in Nairobi who later went to kdf headquarters to confirm the sad news.
According to Aisha, her brother was only three weeks old in Somalia and this was his second deplyonment.
“This was his second time.He was there between 2014 and 2016 ” she said.
At least 68 soldiers were reportedly killed when Al-shabaab ambushed their camp in Kulbiyow.However, KDF says 9 soldiers were killed.
