Mombasa, KENYA: Mombasa businessmen and investors are set to receive growth in their businesses following support from the European Union (EU) Trade Advisers, who have pledged to share information about the County trade and investments developments as well as business opportunities.

Speaking on Teusday  at County Secretary’s office in Mombasa during a meeting with the department heads and representatives from the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), EU Trade Advisers led by Alessandro Tonoli said  that they will work closely with businessmen and investors through automated services which have been incorporated by the County department of Trade, Investment, Energy and Industry.

“The meeting has been an opportunity for us to know about what the County government is doing to improve the business and investment environment,” said Mr. Tonoli who is the Trade Adviser of the European delegation to Kenya.

Mr Tonoli added that the meeting was to discuss current developments and plans by the County to improve the business environment for investors,

“There has been significant improvement in the business environment over the last few years in Mombasa and Kenya. Today we have learned about a number of new initiatives such as a business portal for national and foreign investors in Mombasa which we consider an excellent opportunity to share information with our contacts.” He said.

He added that they are going to support the county to improve infrastructure such as roads so as to boost its investments.

Speaking on behalf of trade executive, Chief Officer Trade, Investment, Energy and Industry Abdulwahab Mbarak, said that they have eased the process of acquiring business and construction permits by using online platforms, unlike in the past when businessmen encountered huge challenges and costs in acquiring the permits.
