IEBC ready for Msambweni by-election tomorrow

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has reaffirmed that it’s ready to conduct the Msambweni by-election tomorrow.

Kwale County IEBC Returning officer Yusuf Abubakar pointed out that the exercise will be conducted within the set Covid-19 health standards with special clerks who will undertake the course.

The constituency has 60 polling centers and 129 polling centers with 69,003 voters.

According to IEBC, all participants in the voting exercise will be required to wear face masks.

Four ambulances will be placed in various locations to undertake any emergency cases during the exercise.

Msambweni constituency will tomorrow elect their next member of parliament after the demise of the then member of parliament Suleiman Dori who passed on, March this year.

Abubakar reiterated that adequate security has been deployed in the area to ensure that the voting exercise sails through.

He warned that action will be taken against those who are anticipating to flout COVID 19 and electoral rules which have been set prior to the exercise.

Polling will open at 6 am and close at 6 pm.

Some of the contestants include Charles Bilali (Independent), Marere Wamwachai (National Vision Party), Hassan Mwakulonda (Party of Economic Democracy), Mahmoud Sheikh (Wiper Party) and Khamis Mwakaonje (United Green Movement) and Mansury Kumaka (Independent).

Others are  ODM party flag bearer Omar Boga and independent candidate Feisal Bader who is being backed by Deputy President William Ruto.
