The wife of a man whose story went viral after he alleged that his three children had rejected her over abandoning them two years ago wants monthly upkeep of sh 440,000 from her husband.

This is according to documents of the ongoing court battle seen exclusively by Baraka FM.

According to the documents, Grace Wachera Githinji who has been identified as the mother has requested the said amount to allow her to cater to her children’s bills to which she pledges to provide love and care to the children in return.

“Monthly maintenance to cater for food, medical needs, and accommodation for herself and three minors subject of this suit and other basic needs sum of Kenya Shillings four hundred and forty thousand “ reads the court petition filed by  Purity Mureithi and company advocates.

The children in question are aged 11, eight, and three years respectively.

In the petition, Wachera, has argued that sh 100,000 of the upkeep is to cater to rent while sh 15,000 is set to cater to rent and electricity bills.

Wachera has also argued that sh 45,000 is set to cater for the salaries of a gardener, house-help, and a watchman, sh 130,000 is set to cater for outings for kids, fuel and car maintenance, sh. 50,000 for food, sh. 10,000 to foot the internet and DSTV bill while sh 90,000 is set to cater for clothes and miscellaneous shopping.

“ School fees and school-related expenses for all the children as per the fees structure of the current schools where they are studying “ Reads part of the petition filed at the chief magistrates’ court in Kiambu.

Wachera also wants his estranged husband to provide an annual payment of sh 850,000 to enable her to take the three children on holiday and pay for their insurance in the petition filed in July last year.

Last week, in a counter-petition filed by Joseph Wanjohi Murimi, her husband the court ordered the children two to spend two weeks with each of the parents.

“That the mother to pick the children on 24th May 2020 at 9.00 am at the Thika Road Mall” reads part of the petition which ordered police from Kiamumbi police station to aid the execution of the order

However, Wanjohi had told journalists that the children had rejected being handed over to their mother.

The children have rejected their mum because she neglected them when they were young. She went to court and got a court order. I have brought the children as I was told and the kids have rejected their mum. The last born was left when she was suckling. I have raised them singlehandedly and now she has a court order, she was supposed to take them but they have refused and created a scene.” Wanjohi told journalists.

However, his estranged wife who works at a local media house has not so far commented on the matter.
