Kisauni widow who boiled stones for supper loses daughter

A woman in Kisauni sub-county who hit the headlines last week after revealing she boiled stones to hoodwink her children into thinking she was preparing them a meal and would wake them up once the meal is ready has lost her last-born daughter.

Penina Bahati told reporters that the daughter succumbed to fever at the Coast Provincial General Hospital.

The four-month daughter identified as Mary Kaingu had been admitted at the facility earlier in the week with a suspected case of Pneumonia before she died on Thursday morning.

The family who live in Junda area of Kisauni caught the attention of the nation after a neighbor filmed Penina boiling stones amidst the shrill cries of baby Mary.

Penina 36 was widowed four months ago after he husband was killed by a criminal gang at the Guruguru shopping centre along the Mariakani-Bamba road.

Penina is now a mother of seven children.
