Joseph Irungu alias Jowie who was arrested in connection with the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani has been released on a two million shillings’ cash bail.

Jowie who has been in remand since 2018 was released by High Court Judge James Wakiaga on Thursday.

Justice Wakiaga ruled that there was no compelling reasons to have the suspect detained longer at this stage of the trial because 15 witnesses have already testified.

Judge Wakiaga also cautioned Irungu against commenting on media and social media platforms about the case and directed him to report to his area chief every last Thursday of the month.

Judge ordered Irungu to deposit his passport in court and warned him against getting a new passport or any other travel documents pending his trial.

Monica Kimani was murdered in her apartment in Lamuria Gardens on September 19th 2018.

Several people were arrested in connection to the murder including Jowie and Former Citizen TV Presenter Jacque Maribe.
