Police officer kills wife following domestic row

Police in Kakamega county are investigating an incident where a police officer is said to have shot dead his wife following a domestic row.

The wife who has been identified as Christine Maonga is a teacher at Navakholo secondary school and the incident happened on Thursday evening.

According to the Kakamega police commander Rashid Yakub, the officer who has been identified as Patrick Oita Nyapara escaped immediately after the incident.

However, the killing ignited protests from angry residents.

The residents blocked police officers who arrived at the scene to collect the body of the deceased demanding that they should produce the culprit before being allowed to collect the body.

The police officers were forced to fire in the air to disperse the angry residents.

This comes just a month after a police cop in Naivasha committed suicide after shooting and seriously injuring his girlfriend.
