Relief for Lamu senator as court upholds his election

Lamu,KENYA: Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip whose victory had been quashed by the Court of Appeal decision was upheld by the Supreme Court on Friday.

The court rescinded the court of appeal’s decision indicating that Loitiptip was elected validly.

On the other hand, Supreme Court nullified the election of ODM’s Ahmed Kolosh as Wajir West MP citing that there was vote malpractice at  Qara polling station.

Gatundu North MP Wanjiku Kibeh found reprieve after Supreme court upheld his vote after the election was nullified by High Court following a petition by former MP Clement Waibara.

 Marakwet East MP Kangogo Bowen also won the appeal against initial nullification by High Court.

The Supreme Court also upheld the election of Babu Owino as Embakasi East MP stating he was validly elected.

After the ruling, Owino thanked people who made him triumph saying he is determined to fulfill his promises to his constituents.

 “I thank my constituents for giving me support and mandate to serve, ”Babu said
