Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua escapes unhurt after bridge collapses in Ogombe

Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua and Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maingi escaped unhurt after a bridge in which they were on collapsed in Ogembo area Kisii county.

Dr. Alfred was on official tour to Kisii when the middle section of the bridge gave away.

The collapsed bridge was built by the local Constituency Development Funds(CDF) to aid residents of connection to residents of Nyabisiongororo village.

Governor Mutua on Friday confirmed the incident through his twitter handle thanking God that the bridge gave away in the presence of government officials since it could have led to loss of life later.

“It is God’s hand at work because it is clear that the bridge would have collapsed anytime soon. By giving way while Government officials were there it means that lives that could have been lost later today or tomorrow were spared,” Twitted Governor Mutua.

Governor Mutua also confirmed that no one was hurt from the incident.

“We visited the banks of the torrential Gucha River that is full due to the ongoing heavy rains in the country. While standing at the edge, we had an adventure as the bridge’s middle section gave way. No one fell in the river or was hurt but we were splashed with water.” confirmed Governor Mutua on Twitter.
