Tana River,KENYA:Former assistant minister and Garsen MP Mr. Danson Buya Mungatana is among twenty applicants for  the Tana River County Assembly clerk position.

Mr. Mungatana vied for gubernatorial position in the 2013 general election when former governor Hussein Dado won the race.

In the 2017 August 8th general election, Mr. Mungatana became position four in the race of five candidates.

The former assistant minister was among the county Assembly speaker position applicants but later withdrew his candidacy halfway.

During communal nominations done at Hola primary in the beginning of the year 2017, Mr. Mungatana vowed to his fellow Pokomo community and the Chana Maro at large that he could rather remain a lawyer than bow out of the gubernatorial race in the county.

“I Mungatana if I will not be nominated to governor’s seat then I will remain in my profession of Law but I’m not ready for the senator position,” Mungatana spoke in the Pokomo language.

In the same occasion, county governor Dhadho Godhana also said he could better remain a farmer if the community will not nominate him to vie for the governor seat.

“If you don’t nominate me to vie for the seat of the governor then it will be better if will remain a farmer” he said in Pokomo.

The two were the only vibrant politicians from the farming community, despite there being several people who had emerged to vie for the seat.

The community had suggested that Mr. Godhana to be the governor and Mungatana be the senator.

This comes just some few weeks  after Mr. Mungatana) appeared in the list of those who had applied for PS position in the Jubilee party.
