Kilifi,KENYA:Protocol officer in the office of the Governor of Kilifi County Government Kazungu John was on Tuesday arrested and charged with defilement of a 14 year old girl.
Kazungu is accused of engaging in a love affair with the underage school girl between the months of May and October 2017.
Appearing before Kilifi resident magistrate Robinson Ondiek, Kazungu denied the charges and was released on a bond of sh. 100,000 with a surety of a similar amount.
The case is to be mentioned in January 29th and then heard on March 5th of 2018.

According to the father of the victim who is a class 6 pupil at Kilifi primary Makupe Mwamuye, the suspect has affected his daughter psychologically to an extent she is no longer concentrating on her studies.
In an earlier interview with Baraka FM, Mwamuye said the suspect impregnated his daughter and aided her to perform an abortion after learning the matter was in the limelight.
“This man called Kazungu has really messed up my daughter,” said Mwamuye .
“My daughter has been running away from home most often going to him and he even dares bringing her home himself comfortably. I am really sad about the issue. I am praying that justice prevails,” he added.
A few days later Kilifi OCPD Alexander Makau confirmed the news saying Kazungu was on the run after the accusations cropped up and the police were hunting him down.
“I want to confirm that actually the Governor’s Protocol Officer John Kazungu is accused of defiling a child and we are pursuing him,” Makau said.
“We have processed the case file and we promise that sooner than later we will have arrested him,” added Makau.
