Acquisition of Land for Mombasa-Mariakani road expansion to begin in February

Mombasa,KENYA:Acquisition of land to facilitate the expansion of the Mombasa – Mariakani expansion is set to begin in February.

This is according to a gazette notice issued by the National lands commission.

According to the notice dated 12th January, approximately 5.9 hectares of land is to be acquired to facilitate the expansion.

“Every person interested in the affected land is required to deliver to the National Land Commission on or before the day of inquiry land ownership documents, a written claim to compensation, copy of identity card (ID), Personal Identification No. (PIN), and bank account details. Commission Offices are in Ardhi House, 3rd Floor Room 305, Nairobi and Mombasa County Lands Registry.” Reads part of the Gazette notice.

The Gazette notice also indicates that inquiry on the land acquisition would be held at the deputy county commissioners office in Changamwe on 6th February.

Among the pieces of land set for acquisition is a piece of land owned by the Aipca Makande cathedral church.

The road is to be converted into a dual carriageway to ease traffic by cargo trucks getting into and leaving the port of Mombasa.
