Kilifi, KENYA: Kilifi Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a pastor alleged to have raped two ladies at Vipingo sisal plantation last week.

According to Kilifi Deputy Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO) Christopher Chesoli, the man said to be a pastor in one of the churches in Kilifi was arrested in Kilifi over the weekend following a tip off by the public who spotted the registration number of the vehicle said to have been used during the abuse of one of the women.

“We received a message which had been circulating concerning the incident and when the public spotted the vehicle passing near Tuskys supermarket in Kilifi town they immediately raised an alarm,” Chesoli confirmed.

“The driver tried to escape   but was caught at Mnarani, just a few miles from Kilifi town,” he added.

He said the owner of the car claimed it was for hire and on the day of the event the pastor had just hired it.

He said in one of the incidences, the pastor allegedly raped the woman at the sisal plantation in Takaungu along Mombasa – Kilifi highway, after picking her at the Kilifi bus stage where he had posed as a driver of a private vehicle.

“He poses as a driver of a private car and always asks for passengers going direct to Mombasa. But on that day he picked the lady and on reaching Takaungu he branched in the sisal, raped the woman and robbed her of money and later dumped her,” Chesoli said.

Before that, the DCIO said that he asked the woman to call home and claim that she had been kidnapped.

Baraka FM established that one of the ladies is a worker in one of the famous in institutions in Kilifi.

The pastor will be arraigned in Court on Monday.
