Nairobi,KENYA: Zimbabwe has withdrawn from CECAFA senior challenge cup scheduled to be played in Kenya starting this weekend.

The country’s national football body ZIFA said the decision was derived at following the political situation in Kenya at the moment.

Zimbabwe was in group B with defending champions Uganda Cranes, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Burundi.

They had been invited to play CECAFA as guests of the regional tournament.

Sudan and Somalia had withdrawn their national teams from participating in CECAFA earlier.

Meanwhile national team Harambee stars who are in group A, will play Rwanda in their opening match on Sunday.
