Nairobi,KENYA: NASA leader Raila Odinga’s elder brother Oburu Odinga and National Super Alliance CEO Norman Magaya are among the nominees submitted by the national assembly leader of minority John Mbadi and Senate Minority leader Moses Wetangula to the East African legislative assembly.
The list which was submitted on Thursday, includes notable names in national politics such as former Wajir county women representative Fatuma Ibrahim, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kennedy Musyoka, former Balambala constituency member of parliament Abdikadir Aden and Jane Moronge Marwa who contested for the Kuria West constituency seat on an Amani national coalition ticket in August and her counterpart who was vying for the Kitutu Chache south seat on the same party Justus Onsongo Mochoge.
Others who have been nominated include the former ODM women league national chairperson Beth Syengo Mutunga, EALA member of the 3rd assembly Hon Abubakar Zain, former Machakos county nominated MCA’s Angela Munyasya and Winfred Mutua and Loy Maviala.
The nomination comes just hours after the Jubilee party submitted its nomination of 15 candidates to the EALA.
On Wednesday, the national assembly joint committee co-chair Katoo ole Metitu said that Kenya was delaying the activities of the EALA.
