Mombasa,KENYA:The Mombasa republican council has distanced itself from secession plans announced by a section of coast leaders who include Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho and Kilifi governor Amason Kingi.

While speaking during a briefing in Mombasa, the MRC spokesperson dismissed Joho and Kingi as opportunists who were using politics to ride on a cause.

Mraja questioned why Joho and Kingi were silent when the MRC started the secession cause a few years ago.

“Aren’t this same people who dismissed us and accused us of attempting to cause chaos in the region when we started the cause a few ago?”Mraja posed.

Mraja also revealed that they would challenge the political leaders who were seeking to secede in court.
