Nairobi,KENYA: Gor Mahia moved one point shy of claiming this season’s Kenyan Premier League KPL title thanks to a 3-1 routing of Kariobangi Sharks at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu on Tuesday.

From the back of last weekend’s 1-0 defeat against struggling Mathare United, K’ogalo came out knowing a second stutter on the trot could have left them waiting longer for their record 16th title.

And to avoid that, the Green Army ensured all the three points were in their bucket by the first stanza courtesy of Rwandan import Jacques Tuyisenge who starred with a hat-trick taking his goal to 12 this campaign.

The result means Gor Mahia who leads the table standings on 63 points, now only need a point from the remaining five matches to be crowned champions since their closest rivals Sofapaka FC can only amass a total of 63 points should they win all their fixtures.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards breathed fresh air to its survival hopes with a 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars in another clash staged on Tuesday, jumping to 10th in the standings on 36 points, eight points away from relegation zone.
