Nairobi, KENYA: National super alliance NASA has cancelled Tuesday’s demonstrations countywide in order for their leaders to visit the victims injured as a result of police assaults.

Through a press statement, Nasa leader Raila Odinga’s spokesman Dennis Onyango cited that the demo will resume as usual on Wednesday, after they have visited the affected supporters and family members that fall victim of police brutality in the past few days.

“This is a temporary step to enable the coalition to attend to the supporters who were brutalized and hurt and families that lost loved ones today (Monday) after police and State-protected goons descended on protesters and Nasa leaders,” the statement read.

The opposition however, directed its supporters to keep off the streets on Tuesday and reactive their strength on Wednesday to push for the removal of the Independent electorate and boundaries commission (IEBC) officials that caused or were the cause of elections bungling.

The coalition further condemned police for using excessive force in quelling protesters.

During the Monday protest in Kisumu, a student was shot dead.
