Mombasa, KENYA: Anti-IEBC Demonstrators in Mombasa were on Friday dispersed by anti-riot police after NASA demos were banned at the Central Business District.

The National Super Alliance (Nasa) supporters together with their leaders had converged at Uhuru Gardens along Moi Avenue and later Nkrumah Road, where they were dispersed.

Mvita MP Abdulswamad, Deputy Governor William Kingi and Senator Mohammed Faki were among the leaders leading the protests when police fired tear gas at them.

No casualties were reported during the early morning incident.

The government on Thursday banned National super alliance (Nasa) demonstrations in Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa central business district (CBDs).

Addressing the media in Nairobi, acting Internal Security CS Fred Matiang’i said the move is aimed at stopping destruction and looting of properties in the continued demonstrations.
