Nairobi,KENYA:The United Nations has warned the Jubilee party and NASA coalitions against boycotting the October 26 elections.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the UN said it appreciated efforts by both parties to hold talks with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission IEBC.

“The united nations urges the parties to recommit themselves to dialogue and to seek consensus based solutions to their differences as most appropriate means to pave way to a free transparent and credible election in conformity with the constitution and existing laws,” read the statement.

The United Nations acknowledged that it had held a meeting with IEBC on Tuesday morning urging them to create a favorable environment for the elections rerun while urging all stakeholders to uphold the rule of the law.

“The United Nations further reminds all stakeholders of their obligations to uphold the rule of the law and respect human rights including peaceful protest  and protection of life and property,” The UN wrote.

The NASA coalition has severally threatened to boycott the October 26 elections if IEBC does not take action against its officers who oversaw the August 8th elections which the presidential one was annulled by the Kenya supreme court.
