Mombasa, KENYA: Mombasa  leaders on Monday lead anti-IEBC demonstrations in the county  before presenting a Memorandum of Understanding to the commision’s regional office.

The peaceful demonstrations started at Uhuru garden in the presence of tight security.

Before leaders presented an MoU to the IEBC, they said that NASA will not participate in 26th October election if they will be no reforms in IEBC secretariat.

Speaking during the demonstration, Mombasa senator Mohammed Faki opposed amendments of election laws ahead of the scheduled repeat presidential elections.

“Jubilee has decided to amend election laws without public participation,we want them to come and engage the people of Mombasa,” he said.

He further alleged that Jubilee party’s intention to have the results of the elections scheduled for October  transmitted manually, as a plan to rig election.

“If we are the ones who  voted why did they refuse to open servers and recently the president has been insulting judges,we want action taken against him!” He said.

Likoni Mp Mishi Mboko said the IEBC commissioners are compromised and should not be allowed to carry out elections.

She also accused police officers of using force against the students who were protesting peaceful.

Mboko said they will be demonstrating every Monday and Friday until Ezra Chiloba resigns.

She has alleged that Jubilee party are planning to rig election in their strong holds and that is why they are changing election laws.

Despite heavy security at the IEBC offices in Mombasa, the leaders were allowed to access the office and present the MoU, although the commission’s officer was not in office.
