Mombasa,KENYA:Public works PS Mariam Al Maawy has passed on.
The PS died while undergoing treatment in South Africa where she had been airlifted to.
State house spokesman Manoah Esipisu confirmed the sad news.
In June, Mariam survived an attack by Al shabaab militants in Lamu county that left four people dead including her 21-year-old trainee pilot nephew Arif Kassim.
Their car was pounced on at Milihoi area on Lamu-Mpeketoni highway at about 3pm before Al-shabaab drove them into Boni Forest.
Al shabaab militants had earlier been abducted Mariam before she was later rescued by KDF officers.
