Monastir, TUNISIA: South Africa continued its dominance over Kenya in the Women’s Rugby Sevens on Sunday by beating Kenya’s Lioness 17-12 in the finals of the Africa Sevens Cup final, held in Monastir, Tunisia.

Kenya, who had previously lost to South Africa on three occasions, was hopeful of getting one over the former but all did not go as planned with South African leading 12-5 at the break and then went ahead to win the encounter.

The defeat means Kenya failed to qualify for next year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup Sevens slated for July 20-21 in San Francisco, USA, leaving South Africa as the sole representatives of the continent in the championship.

In-spite of the setback, Kenya joins South Africa as the only two teams that will represents Africa in the 2017 Commonwealth Games due April 4-15 in Gold Coast, Australia.

Kenya’s performance at this year’s Africa Women’s Rugby Sevens impressed as they did not lose any match heading to the finals, including a 47-0 whacking of Morocco in the quarters.
