KPA teams stun opponents to maintain title chase

Mombasa, KENYA: Kenya Ports Authority KPA men’s and women’s team bagged maximum points over the weekend to maintain their hunt for the National Basket League.

Playing at their home turf, KPA men’s team oversaw newcomers Nairobi’s Umoja 25-15, in a match staged at the Makande Gymnasium, Mombasa on Saturday.

Joseph Ouma and Victor Odendo starred for the Anthony Ojukwu coached team with 15 points each while Allan Ouma and Nick Ogol bagged 11 points each for Umoja.

In the women’s league KPA who are yet test defeat this season continued their good run by routing Umoja 22-6 in the fourth quarter having lead 19-08, 27-6 and 24-4 in the first three quarters respectively.

Betty Kananu produced a game-high 15 points with Congolese born Yolanda Ngoi managed 13 points for the Dockers, who used the match to prepare for the upcoming Africa Zone Five championship they won last year.
