Suspected Old town gang leader arrested in Mombasa

Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Mombasa old town area have arrested another suspected ringleader of a gang alleged to have been terrorizing resident’s in the area.

The suspect identified as Muhsin ,21, was on Thursday taken  to the central police station where he faced interrogation.

Mombasa urban police boss Lucas Ogara confirmed to Baraka FM that the suspect is in the list of most wanted suspects linked to series of robberies and other criminal activities in the city.

He said the suspect was arrested with a machete which he allegedly uses when robbing people.

“His other two accomplices escaped police arrest,but officers managed to arrest Muhsin. We are now compiling the report and soon we will arraigned him in court to face charges.” Said the police boss.

He said the suspect was nabbed at around 4 am in a place where they usually frequented to plot robberies.

The number of dangerous old town suspected members has increased to eight  in a period of one month.

Late last month six others surrendered to police after there images were published and put on the wanted list.

The police boss reiterated that they will do all it takes to wipe out all criminals terrorizing residents in the area.

Security agencies in old town area and Mombasa have been grappling with terror gang members ahead of August polls.

He urged members of public who might have fallen prey to the suspects to go to central police station to lodge complains and identity the suspects.
