Five people charged in court for selling SGR tickets

Mombasa, KENYA: Five people linked to the sale of SGR train tickets without authority from Kenya Railways were on Monday charged in a Mombasa court.

The court heard that on diverse dates between 1st June and 14th July, four suspects not authorized as employees or agents of Kenya Railways, engaged in selling of tickets in order to enable other persons to travel using the SGR train.

The four suspects Hilder Wanjala, Jimmy Muruingi, Richard Githinji and Moureen Gatwiri were arrested on Friday at Mahogany Investment Company in Mtwapa Kilifi County.

Mr. Jabes Ochieng was charged separately for allegedly selling the tickets at Miritini railway terminus in Mombasa without authority.

All pleaded not guilty to the charges before Mombasa senior resident magistrate Edigah Kagoni.

Mr.Kagoni ordred each accused person released on a cash bail of Ksh.10, 000.

The case will be heard on 31st July.
