Somali national charged for being illegally in Kenya

Mombasa, KENYA: A Somali citizen was on Monday charged in a Mombasa court for allegedly being in the country illegally.

Court heard that Mustafa Mohammed Ali was on Friday arrested in Mombasa for being in the country without legal permit.

The suspect denied charges before resident magistrate Gideon Kiage and was remanded at Shimo la Tewa prison until July 27, when the case will be mensioned.

Mustafa allegedly came from Kisimayu in Somalia, but told the court he was a refugee from Daadab refugee camp.

He also added that he had lost his passport while in the country.

“I request court to abandon me and also assist me to get a passport,” he told court.
