Mombasa,KENYA:More than 68 children aged between 2 and 12 years have been left homeless after water filled the Swabur orphanage that houses them in Kisauni, Mombasa.

This was after heavy rains pounded parts of the county on Monday.

According to the Orphanage administrator Abubakar Ogollo who spoke to Baraka FM on Tuesday, water filled the orphanage following heavy rains on Monday leaving basic amenities including ARV drugs, beddings and food stuffs soaked in water.

Ogollo says the children are currently being housed by a good Samaritan but says they are lacking the basic amenities and called on the authorities to assist the orphanage in form of donations.

This comes just a day after 6 people died and others injured after a wall crumbled on them in Kizingo area of Mombasa following heavy rains.
