Musician Jaguar released on a sh 50,000 bail over killer accident

Musician Charles Njagua Kanyi popularly known as Jaguar has been released on a sh 50,000 cash bail or a sh 100,000 bond.This was after he appeared at the Baricho law courts on Monday in Kirinyaga County to answer charges of causing two deaths  through reckless driving.

Appearing before magistrate Evans Kiago, the singer denied all the charges further pleading with the court to set him free and promised to adhere the court hearing dates.

The musician was not represented by an attorney.The court was told that the musician was heading to Nairobi from Nyeri County on March 21st when he lost control of his vehicle in Makutano, Kirinyaga County knocking down a motorcyclist and his passenger in the process killing them instantly.

Eye witnesses had earlier reported that a lady was driving the range rover when the accident occurred and that singer arrived 30 minutes later after the lady made a few phone calls.

Jaguar would later admit to be behind the wheels when the accident occurred.The singer who was questioned at the Sagana police station is Kirinyaga county had been released on a police bail of sh 20,000.

The hearing comes as the singer intensifies his campaign in Starehe constituency where he is seeking to unseat the incumbent legislator Maina Kamanda come August.

The case is set for hearing on 26th June.
