Nairobi, KENYA: Kenya Ports Authority KPA women’s team kicked off its Kenya Basketball Federation KBF title hunt on a high note, collecting all the possible points from the opening two matches played over the weekend in Nairobi.

The Dockers banked on their experience to unsparingly overwhelm Kenyatta University’s Oryx 88-39 on Saturday before mauling Swords of Strathmore University 80-40 at the Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium on Sunday.

Brigid Nanzala who switched allegiance to KPA from Ulinzi women’s team last season, confirmed her status by leading in the scores in both matches with 21 and 20 points respectively.

KPA head Coach Anthony Ojukwu could not hide his happiness, attributing the victory to teamwork and dedication of her players as they bounce back from losing to Equity Hawk in the finals last season.

Elsewhere, former champions, the Flames of USIU posted mixed results, beating Cooperative Bank Queens 59-51 before going down 51-44 to promoted side University College in its second match.

In men’s Premier League holders KPA opened its title defense on a winning note, humbling Equity Bank 86-61 while Ulinzi Warriors were 83-71 winners over Cooperative Bank Spartans.
