Woman ruthlessly attacked, robbed by gang in Kisauni

Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Kisauni are holding a suspected  member of criminal gang Wakalali kwanza who allegedly slashed a woman, causing her serious body harm in Bakarani Kisauni area.

The suspect identified as Ali Tende, 19, was in a gang of six others in the Thursday morning incident, police said.

The woman in her 30’s identified as Valentine Wakio, is reported to have sustained deep cuts on her shoulder after being slashed by the suspect using a machete.

The suspects then allegedly stole her bag which had an unknown amount of money and vanished into the alleys of Kisauni.

Plain clothes police were mobilized and they tracked the suspect and he was found at his  hideout where he was arrested.

The suspect according to police, is a known drug peddler in the area of Kisauni and member of criminal gang of Wakalikwanza.

Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich confirmed the arrest of the suspect,saying five others were being sought by police.

“We are still interrogating the suspect,we want to get some information from him. We also appeal to members of the public and the witnesses to volunteer information which will lead to arrest of the other suspects,” said police boss.

The suspect is being held at Nyali police station as investigations are underway.

He said the woman is receiving treatment in one of the private hospital and is in a stable condition.
