Kenyans to access designer clothes at fair prices during upcoming exhibition

Nairobi,KENYA:The Ministry of Trade and Industrialization is organizing a clothes fair that would ensure Kenyans access designer clothes from international designer brands at fair prices with some as low as sh 50.

According to Trade and Industrialization CS Adan Mohamed, the clothing fair exhibition will take place at the Kenyatta International Conference Center from 29th to the 31st of March.

“Today, a pair of jeans manufactured here by some of our export processing entities that retails in the US between $48 ( Sh4,939.2 )and $50 ( Sh5,147.5 ) will be made available for Kenyans for as low as between Sh 400 and Sh 600,” the CS said during a tour of Hela clothing in Athi river on Friday.

Mohamed also said that after the exhibition, the ministry would inform Kenyans where to access the items but added that they were expecting the retail stores would be opened by SMEs.

Hela clothing produces garments on behalf of international designer brands such as Victoria secrets,Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Kein.

The exhibition comes amidst a proposed ban on second hand clothes by the East African community.
