Kenya Prisons’ hopes of winning its maiden continental title turned futile on Thursday night after it went to down with straight sets to Al Ahly of Egypt in the quarter finals of the African volleyball club championship in Tunis, Tunisia.

The Warders who returned to the competition after missing out in last year’s edition lost the first set 15-25, before surrendering the other sets 13-25, 19-25 respectively.

The outcome replicates the 2013 campaign where the Gideon Chenje coached side was eliminated at the same stage, denting its semifinals desires.

Prisons will now tackle FAP of Cameroon on Friday in the fight for position 4-8, as Al Ahly who is the record winner with 11 titles under its belt take on Algeria’s Bourj Bouaririj in the first semi-final of the championship.

Swehly of Libya who upset compatriots Assarya with 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-28) in quarters will play the winner between Tunisian sides Esperance and Etoile du Sahel in the other semis.
