Nairobi, KENYA: National Rugby Sevens team Shujaa has dropped to 12th in the HSBC World series standings after picking only five points at the sixth leg which culminated on Sunday in Vancouver Canada.

Shujaa were tossed out of the Challenge Trophy semifinals following a 7-21 defeat to Samoa ending their hopes of retaining the title they won in Las Vegas USA a fortnight ago.

It was yet another disappointing campaign for Kenya who once again failed to qualify for Main Cup quarters, winning only one Pool match against Chile after having had lost to South Africa and England.

The result meant Kenya managed third position in its Group dropping to Challenge Cup; where it edged Scotland 19-17 in quarters to book semis slot only to fall short against Samoa.

With the performance Kenya now sits 12th on 40 points while South African leads on 126 points followed by England and Fiji on 106 and 100 respectively.

The team is set to jet back in the country on Tuesday before embarking on preparations for the seventh leg to be held in Hong Kong, China on the weekend of April 7 and 8.
