Eight matches on cards as KPL resume action

Nairobi, KENYA: The 2017 season of the Kenyan Premier League 2017 serves off this weekend with eight matches lined up in different venues across the country.

The reigning champions Tusker will launch their title defense with a tie against promoted side Nzoia United at Afraha Stadium in the outskirts of Nakuru town.

The Brewers will be hoping to put aside their elimination in the CAF Champions League by registering victory under the new tactician George Nsimbe who took over from the title winning coach Paul Nkata.

Nkata, the 2016 Kenyan Premier League coach of the year accolade winner will start life at Bandari by guiding his charges against newbies Nakumatt FC at KPA Mbaraki Stadium.

There will be a double header at Thika Stadium on Sunday where hosts Thika United will face off with Mathare United before former champions Gor Mahia entertain newcomers Kariobangi Sharks.

At Awendo Green Stadium, home team Sony Sugar will tackle Chemelil Sugar while the match pitting AFC Leopards and Ulinzi Stars has been postponed.

The soldiers are in Egypt to take on Smouha in their CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg match scheduled for Friday starting 1700hrs local time.
