Parliament confirms Wabukala as new anti-graft boss

Nairobi,KENYA:Parliament has approved the nomination of Archbishop Eliud Wabukhala to head the Ethics and Anti-corruption commission EACC.

Mr Wabukala was appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta to head the commission.

The former Anglican Archbishop now replaces Philip Kinisu, who resigned from the commission after he was embroiled in the Sh791 million National Youth Service scandal.

Kisumu Town East Mp Shakil Shabir (ODM) urged president Kenyatta to fully support Wakubala in his new appointment to slay the dragon of corruption.

Shabir said the Archbishop needs political support in order to carry his mandate.

“Mr President, there are people who are around you who are corrupt. Forget them even if they are the deputies. Let us deal with them through this commission”, he said.

Kitutu Chache North Mp Jimmy Angwenyi (TNA) urged the commission to be tough on corruption.

“China took corrupt people to the beach and sprayed them with bullets”, he said.

Parliament also approved the appointment of Wafula Chebukati as the new chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission boundaries IEBC.
