Mombasa,KENYA: Four people were on Monday injured following a road accident at Kibarani, Mombasa.
The accident involved a matatu-belonging to NAEKANA lines- and a private car in which the saloon car caught fire.
According to the Mombasa disaster committee, the driver of the private car and three passengers in the matatu were injured.
They were rushed to Bomu hospital as Mombasa County fire brigade battled to put out the fire.
An eyewitness told baraka fm the private car was heading to town when it appeared to lose control and veered off towards on coming traffic.The car burst into flames on impact.
“It veeref off the road before colliding with the matatu which was heading on the opposite direction.Suddenly it burst into falmes”, the eyewitness said.
Members of the public acted quick and removed occupants of the car, though they were in serious condition.
Earlier, unconfirmed reports had indicated that eight people lost their lives in the accident.However, the Mombasa County disaster has confirmed no causality but injuries.
