Mombasa,KENYA:Security has been beefed up in Mombasa for both residents and tourists as festive season approaches.
Mombasa County Commissioner Mr.Evans Achoki said the security plan includes land, air and sea patrol.
Speaking at Wesley Methodist Church in Tononoka when launching a security cards and reflector jackets program to peace monitors and community, Mr. Achoki said police officers both in uniform and in civilian will be deployed in key installation to ensure maximum security.
“Police officers will patrol all public places including beaches, churches and shopping malls in Mombasa”, he said.
According to the administrator, Kenya wild life service personnel and Mombasa County Inspectorate will also be tasked with the responsibility of providing security.
In terms of easing congestion in the city, he assured all road users that traffic department in conjunction with County inspectorate has put measures to curb traffic jams in the coastal city.
