Nairobi,KENYA:Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology claimed women soccer title at the 10th edition of the East African University games, which culminated on Tuesday at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology.
The Kakamega based students, saw off Uganda’s Kyambogo 2-0 in the finals on Monday thanks to goals apiece from Ednah Sumba and Vivian Kutero.
En route to the finals MMUST knocked out Kenyatta University in the quarterfinals and later eliminated hosts Jomo Kenyatta University in semis.
Kyambogo to their side toppled University of Eldoret in the quarters.
Elsewhere Kampala University claimed men’s soccer title by beating Zanzibar 2-1 in the finals.
Hosts Kenyatta University emerged champions in Volleyball and Hockey titles in men and women’s category respectively.
Meanwhile Strathmore beat Ndejje University of Uganda 33-24 to bag handball titles.
Ndejje however claimed the overall winner title for a record of fifth time successively, after collecting 94 medals from different disciplines.
