Kenya's Ambassador to Tanzania Mr. Chirau Ali Mwakwere who recently decamped from jubilee party to join ODM. He will vie for Kwale gubernatorial post

Kwale,KENYA:Kenya’s Ambassador to Tanzania Ali Chirau Mwakwere is set to resign early next year as a civil servant in line with elections laws.

Mr. Mwakwere who is currently in Dar es Laam Tanzania, will resign his positions six month to the General Elections.

This comes after he decamped from Jubilee to ODM following a meeting with party leader Raila Odinga and his deputy Hassan Joho.

So far Kwale county gubernatorial seat has attracted 6 aspirants on ODM ticket.

They include; Issa Chipera, Kwale County Speaker Sammy Ruwa, Fomer PS Mohammed Mwachai Mwarapayo, Nicholas Zani, Gereza Dena and Ali Chirau Mwakwere.

Speaking on behalf of the ODM gubernatorial aspirants at Kinondo’s ODM office, Issa Chipera was confident the party will conduct free and fair nominations and asked Mr. Mwakwere to prepare for a stiff competition.

He also urged those who will lose to support the winner and campaign for him to ensure jubilee do not clinch the seat.

Chipera, who is currently the Plan International Country Manager in Uganda, was a close ally of Governor Mvurya before falling out when the governor ditched ODM.

However, Mwakwere has been warned against destabilizing ODM in the County as he allegedly did with the coastal political vehicle Shirikisho.

“We want to welcome Mwakwere to ODM but at the same time warn him because we still remember that he sold our party- Shirikisho, to PNU. He should not come to ODM through a backdoor and do the same” said Abdalla Mambo, the Msambweni Sub-County ODM chairman.
